Portion size is often confused with serving size but the two are not the same thing. Portion size refers to the overall size of a meal while serving size refers to a standardized amount of a particular food. Examples of serving size include: 1 slice of bread, 1/2 cup of rice or pasta, and 1 cup of milk. Less servings means smaller meal portions.
